Get answers to your reference questions by e-mail

Need help finding something when you’re off-campus?  You could pick up the phone (reference desk, 916-558-2461), but you’ve got another option too: e-mail.  Ask a Librarian e-mail reference service can take your question whenever you feel like sending it.

To send a question, go to the SCC Library homepage and click Ask a Librarian.  Fill out the simple form, and an SCC librarian will send out an answer to your question within 24 hours (though we can only answer you during library hours Monday-Friday).

We help students and faculty with questions about library databases, LOIS, the library catalog, and other information resources, including library assignments, research topics, authoritative articles, and reliable web sites. Here’s a big advantage over phone service: we can send you direct links to the resources you need, including full-text articles from our databases.  We look forward to hearing from you!

On Campus:

• See the Hispanic Heritage Library book display on the 2nd floor.  Check one out!
• Did you catch the Mexican Independence Day celebration in the Quad today?  Check online for upcoming Cultural Awareness Center events.

• Trace Spanish influences in the Americas on Scholastic’s interactive map.
• Explore Arte Latino’s treasures online, from the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

In a Museum:

• Visit “Latinas: the Spirit of California” at the California Museum for History, Women and the Arts.
• Take a field trip.  Paintings by Frida Kahlo are on display at SFMOMA through September 28th.
