The Reader is the newsletter of the Sacramento City College Learning Resource Center, remade as a blog. Look for updates about materials and services from LRC departments – library, instructional media and academic computers, learning skills and tutoring, distance education, instructional development, and media production. (You can access the “old” webpage Reader on the SCC library home page.)
Commenting
This is a blog, so share your comments and insights. To reply to a post, click on the title. At the bottom of the post, fill in the form with your name and e-mail address. Then type the anti-spam string of random letters and numbers. (If you are a first time commenter, there may be a delay before your comments appear in the blog.)
We encourage diverse opinions but reserve the right to remove comments that are abusive, contain profanity, or violate the spirit of civil discourse.
Subscribing
We’ll blog Learning Resource Center news once or twice a week. If you’d like to get an email with new posts as they happen, simply click the “Subscribe by Email” here or in the right-hand box and fill out the subscription form.
You can also subscribe via RSS feed. Click the “Subscribe in a reader” link here or in the right-hand box, select your news reader, and proceed with those instructions.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a technology that allows you to subscribe to the updated content of websites, such as this blog, by collecting that content in a single place. When a website or blog publishes an RSS feed, you can read the new posts in a feed reader, such as Google Reader and Bloglines. You can also set up your opening pages for My Yahoo! and iGoogle to display RSS feeds. And there are ways of subscribing to RSS feeds in your Web browser and in desktop applications. You can find a list of ways to read RSS feeds here.
