If you bike to work or school, May is your chance to log your miles, get recognized, and possibly win a prize from regional sponsors SACOG, SACDOT, SMAQMD, RT, CalTrans, and other organizations. Go to MayIsBikeMonth.com, click on Register, and fill in your information. Choose Employer > Sacramento City College (zip 95822), and Team>SCCCyclers.
At SCC, Thursday, April 29 is Bike Day – a few days early to avoid finals. Stop by the table on the quad between 9:00 and 1:00 that day to pick up some free information about biking and grab a snack. Encourage your students to visit the table, too. There will be a raffle for students with cool prizes donated by local bike shops.
And of course, the SCC Library has a few bike-y books to share:
Lance Armstrong. It’s not about the bike: my journey back to life. 2001. Ebook. Access with ID and unified password.
Nicole Cooke. Cycle for life: bike and body health and maintenance. 2008. GV 1041 .C676 2009.
J. Harry Wray. Pedal power: the quiet rise of the bicycle in American public life. 2008. HE308 .W73 2008.
Ben Hewitt, ed. Bicycling magazine’s new cyclist handbook: ride with confidence and avoid common pitfalls. 2005. GV1041 .B529 2005.
